Our Founders

Dr. Curtis D. Brandon, Sr.

An educator, author, and motivational speaker, Curtis D. Brandon, Sr. was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Despite his humble beginnings, Brandon achieved his dreams while growing up in the inner city. His love of learning and teaching flourished at Virginia Union University (VUU), where he excelled in basketball, football, and academics.

Though a talented football player, Brandon chose to become an educator, particularly an educator who would assist learners with learning challenges. After leaving VUU, Brandon worked in the Virginia public school system for over 30 years.

Throughout his professional career, Brandon continued his education and earned numerous certifications and degrees. He completed training in Educational Leadership and Special Education and obtained a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Continuing his commitment to community service, Brandon created the nonprofit, Central Virginia Educational Resource Programs, Inc. (CVERP),  which teaches math and reading fundamentals to special education children. Among its services, CVERP provides GED completion resources,  adult career development, college preparation, job readiness skills, and support groups for families.

Brandon lives by the motto, "Believe in something, or you will fall for anything." With this belief always in mind, he works tirelessly to help people navigate through life, even when it seems to work against them. In addition to his book, Leadership and Instructional Technology in Schools, Brandon has given numerous presentations, mentored countless youth, and broken many education barriers.

Regardless of where you start in life, Brandon believes success can be achieved and you can be an inspiration to others.
